I cannot overstate how rough the mosquitos are currently. The moment I opened my door I was mobbed and any moment I stopped on the trail. Doused my head 5 or 6 times in 30% picaridin throughout the hike. Bring plenty of spray and ideally a bug net hat especially for spending time at the lakes!
Bugs aside, the road was in excellent condition and freshly graded with only a minor stream crossing that even sedans/compacts were driving through with no issue. Some flowers blooming in the meadow just past the trailhead but a bit past their prime. Trail was in good condition too - few unavoidable muddy spots, some minor blowdowns, and between Tuck and Robin a couple patches of easy snow to cross.
I wasn't quite expecting the climb up to even just Tuck to be *that* steep but it was a rewarding trip. Pathfinding up from Tuck to Robins was mildly tricky at times following spread out cairns but completely doable. I'd just recommend getting an early start to ensure you're not directly in the sun the entire climb/scramble. Robins Lakes were gorgeous with slightly hazy views of Rainier in the background.
Altogether a satisfying accomplishment but bring spray, bug net hats, long sleeves, and pants so you can linger and enjoy the lakes more.
