Beautiful hike up in verdant forest. Linnea was in full bloom. The switch backs were steep and short but tempered by the soft, duff trail. Just a few bugs. The trail is wide and well groomed. Several creek crossings available for refreshment. Enormous fir trees lower down will strain your neck with fabulous views. Mesmerizing glacier views from Fourth of July Camp. Water close by camp and a secluded forest box toilet on the uphill side of the trail. Short flat hike to Fourth of July Pass was dreamy and another source of water. Good selection of trees for bear hang. Minor delays on Highway 20 towards Marblemount due to road works. Rangers at Marblemount were very helpful.
