Sol Duc Falls, Lover's Lane Loop — Sunday, Jul. 3, 2022

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
The falls from the bridge

What a beautiful example of the rainforest and the powerful rivers in the Olympics! We started from the campground area, Loop A, for this hike and did encounter lots of areas where trees had fallen but had been cut away by some diligent trail workers. At one point we did have to scramble and make sure we were still on the trail as it rerouted around some lost ground that must have been cut away by the river. But it was nothing too strenuous, and we saw many families with young children having fun on this hike. The falls were wonderful; make sure you don't stop at the first set of cascades you see. The real falls are past the old shelter and have lots of platforms and viewing areas. No bugs, well shaded, and lots of refreshing spray to cool you down at the end!

We took the Lover's lane trail back to the hot springs, and this trail actually was in a little bit better condition and less people, with good stopping points to view the river.
