The sign at the trail head has been updated, work on this trail is now expected to start July 15th. My wife and I arrived at about 2pm to a mostly empty parking lot, maybe 10 or so other cars. The road to the parking lot has some pretty significant potholes, but we were able to manage it in a sporty hatchback without too much trouble. The trail isn't in terrible shape, though there are some places that are showing wear. There is a log bridge about a mile in that has some of the railing falling off, and there are quite a few loose stones around. One spot about half a mile from the lake has a blowdown that landed exactly on the trail, not across it. A makeshift path has been made around to the left of it to make it passable, but it is definitely an obstacle. The lake was beautiful, as always. Be aware of the critters, gray jays and chipmunks will be interested in your snacks. I actually had a chipmunk climb up on to my back today as we were sitting at the lake, which was a new experience for me!
