Silver Star Mountain via Silver Star creek poses some challenges once you get to the boulder field at 5,200 ft. We'd recommend following the boulder field all the way into the gully where you see a cairn.
Going into the brush too early adds a lot of bushwhacking and time to your ascent. We followed a GPX track that went into the brush early on the way up which doubled our time. Good luck!

Where did you see that the trail is open? Trails beyond the road closure are closed to all entry, per the MBS website.
The MBS website still says: "Closed to all entry due to hazards from Downey Creek Fire through October 1, 2022 or further notice. Many standing dead trees along the trail and many trees down across the trail."
The Darrington RD is very good about updating their district, so please share how you know it's open.

Looks like there’s a more recent report where they updated their signage to reflect the new closure date until October 1, 2022 . There were no postings when we went. I’d refer to the most recent information!
