Mount Ellinor — Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Mount Ellinor by Cericson

01/02/20
We managed to make it to the higher trail head with a 4-wheel vehicle. By the time we were leaving there was high snow below the lower trail head.
Starting the climb, I put on micro spikes above where the winter and summer routes connect. Only one person in our group of 5 had crampons, but they would have been preferred, but we were able to summit with microspikes or snowshoes. The chute and the summit were very icey. We were able to summit with sheer will and ice axes, which are very much needed.
Lots of snow coming down on our way down.
