Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

One of the best unobstructed views of Rainier! I've been frequenting the FS 70 area for 20 years and have never hit this trail.

Road up to the trail head has some sections with snow/mild ice. Good snow ruts but center line may be a little high with snowpack for some vehicles. Looks like road will remain accessible until we get another snow. Parts of the road up off 72 and 7250 are very exposed and I would personally not drive up with more snow/ice.

The trail itself is pretty much snow free for the first mile, then the rest is snowy but with good boot pack. I did not use spikes or poles but they would have been handy. Still very doable without. Only two other small groups on the trail. This is an amazing, peaceful hike through an old fire damaged forest into ridge clearings. 100% recommend this one.
