Hurricane Hill trail is open for this holiday weekend after being closed most of the summer for trail maintenance and goat removal. Trail is all gravel right now, smooth and graded all the way. Expect lots of people as this popular hike has been unavailable most of the summer.
We got there before 10, when there were only a few cars in the parking lot. By the time we left at noon, parking had overflowed down to the (closed) restrooms.
It was a gorgeous day, but very little fall foliage is visible at his elevation. The mountains were dusted with snow, courtesy of the recent snowfalls. The trail was clear though.
Most exciting was seeing again a young buck who frequents the area, sauntering down the hill toward me.
