Black Diamond Open Space, Green to Cedar River Trail — Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Beautiful sunrise over the trees

Hiked from Lake Sawyer Regional Park to the Black Diamond Open Spaces and took the "False Flat Drag" trail. There are a couple of trees across the trail, and the salal bushes are somewhat overgrown in one section. The trees can be scrambled over and the brush is only a problem after it has been raining. A portion of the trail has recently been brushed out and looks great. I cut over on the "Connector" trail and then followed the "Traffic Circle" trail to the parking area on 288th Avenue SE. All of these trails are in great shape. I crossed the road and headed towards Four Corners on the "Old Railroad Grade" trail and then connected to the "Green to Cedar" trail. The "Green to Cedar" trail crosses over railroad tracks, which are still active with freight trains every day. Use caution when crossing. After several more street crossings, I ended up in Four Corners, where I stopped for coffee before returning back. There are lots of ripe blackberries, so ripe that many are starting to fall off the plants.
