Trip Report

Dirty Harry's Peak — Wednesday, May. 8, 2019

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

We enjoyed a mid-week sunrise trail run of Dirty Harry's in lieu of our typical Si mornings. Dirty Harry's is certainly more scenic and a more varied, enjoyable trail than Si, but it does take longer. The lower half is very runnable, but the upper portion turns into uneven, rocky terrain that requires a sharp attention to footing. We crossed 2 or 3 well flowing streams, in case anyone is worried about water and would be carrying a filter up here.

We didn't run into any issues until about 400 feet below the summit where consistent snow began. The snow was slowing us down as I was postholing above my knees, and we knew it would take us a while to navigate to the summit, and we both had to get to work. We'd both summitted before and knew the best views were on the ascent and descent, so there were no qualms about turning short of the top. We threw on microspikes for about 100 feet of steep snow descending.

Around 1:40 up and 45 min down.

Snow is steeper than it seems
Descending around 7:25am
