Report on conditions. Most snow melted except of course the well trod trail. See picture.
Going in at 11:00 the trail was a mix of frozen ground (easy), packed snow (not too bad), packed ice (all three of us maneuvered with care), mud (not TOO bad). A few spots I wished I’d brought my micro spikes but did OK. We turned around at what I call the “Little Rock” about 3/4 to the top due to a tired 4 year old.
Walking back out at 12, 12:30 the frozen ground was thawing to mud, glissaded down on the packed snow (and managed to stay on our feet),the packed ice was softened and easier to walk on but we sank much deeper into the mud.
Perhaps good to make a early start!
