Dalles Ridge Snowshoe — Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
Dalles Ridge Snowshoe by CarolineMD
Got to the "trailhead", which is the start of the side road, at about 10:15am. Only one other car parked. Note that with the snow, and the side road not being plowed, there's only room for about 3 cars to be parked not on the side of Highway 410. Great snowshoe conditions. The car/group that was there before us had made a trail and we followed up--as it's a steady incline. We didn't follow the "road" trail the entire time and just after the first clearing lookout, we verred left into the woods to continue to follow the same snow shoe tracks. We crossed a little creek, walked through the woods for a bit and continued on to find three beautiful clearing sections along the ridge as we snowshoed. Some great views of the mountains and valleys along the ridge for sure. pic 1: at start of trailhead pic 2: looking back at trail after reaching first clearing on the ridge (after taking a left on the trail more into the woods) pic 3: clearing 3 lookout
