We set out at 10am for a Black Friday hike. We experienced everything from rain/mud to sleet to packed snow and everything between! My husband and I are both trail runners and rarely use poles but today I wished I had them. We slipped and slided up and down and neither of us escaped without a less-than-graceful fall. The steepest portion of the trail was very slick with a snowy/rainy/sludgy mess. We managed okay with our trail runners and were very thankful we wore our waterproof shoes today. Snow closer to the lake reached 4-8 inches but the trail was well packed and easy to navigate. No micro spikes needed. Waterproof shoes are a must and poles highly recommended! A couple downed trees were very easy to cross. Overall this was a gem of a hike and I highly recommend!
