Many more pictures and information can be seen on my blog here.
The trail was stunningly beautiful with fall colors and many lakes. We did the route counter-clockwise from Artist Point, which worked pretty well, except we hit Ptarmigan Ridge at the peak busy period. It was a great strategy for views, not a great strategy for solitude.
When we arrived, the frost was beginning to melt and made for a pretty muddy trail, I suspect it will stay muddy until next summer. Hard to decide which part of the loop was the best!
Despite the crowds, most people were following leave no trace guidelines, though we did see an illegal drone at Herman Saddle where we were trying to eat lunch. A motorized, hovering camera above me is not how I enjoy the wilderness or my lunch and urge drone users to please check guidelines before operating in wilderness areas.

AnnieLt on Chain Lakes Loop
Great photos and nice trip report, but you tagged the wrong "Chain Lakes" hike. This report should link to the Chain Lakes in the Mt. Baker Ski Area, not Central Cascades.
