Trip Report

Pete Lake, Spectacle Lake, Lemah Meadow & Kendall Katwalk — Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Pete Lake Juntion

On the PCT from Lemah Meadows, PCT mile 2414, to Snoqualmie Pass PCT miles 2393, southbound.

We accessed the PCT from the Pete Lake Trailhead - 6 miles to Lemah Meadows. The Lemah Meadows Trail avoids the ford of the South Fork of Lemah Creek, and this is the horse route. We stayed on the PCT to see what the ford was all about. Not much in August! Knee deep water and easily done. Apparently the bridge was washed away in the winter of 2007/08. Other bridges around need work too but are passable.

Soon after the ford it was a big climb up to Spectacle Lake for almost 3 miles through a burn area filled with fantastic blooming fireweed. The PCT here was closed in 2009 because of the fire. Flowing from Spectacle Lake Delate Creek is delightful and the bridge and waterfall are a perfect place to have a break.

Spectacle Lake is amazing and has many nice campsite for both thru hikers and backpackers coming from Pete Lake.

Gorgeous views continue all the way to Park Lakes, pass the Mineral Creek access trail and on to Chikamin Pass. From here the trail stays high all the way to the Kendall Katwalk. Some of the most amazing views on the PCT. We saw pikas and marmots. We were amazed at how many tents there were at Ridge and Gravel Lakes- little solitude there!

After Kendall Katwalk it is a fast 6 miles downhill to Snoqualmie Pass.

29 miles 6548' elevation gain. A super fun beautiful day!
