Wanted to do an overnight for my Birthday. I chose Skyline Divide because of how high you are up without anything blocking the beautiful sunset, sunrise and stars. The WTA trail description is spot on, so I had no problems navigating. We got to the trailhead at 5:30pm and I had to hustle to make it up to the campsite I had picked before the sunset at 8:43. I have done this hike before, just not with 42# of gear on my back, so it was pretty tough for me. We had to tote our water as there is none up there this time of year. (It was myself and my 70# Rottie and we took 5 liters up for the overnight hike.) I barely made it to the area where we camped, I was so exhausted. I wish I could tell you guys the exact spot, but I don't know how many knolls I went up. It's the first really big hill that you get to, there are no trees there, just some small shrubs. Anyway, stayed there all by myself, it was wonderful. I did forget the bug spray so I got bit over 100 times by flies and mosquitoes. I did bring the insect repellent shirt for the dog, so she was good. lol
