Headed out from Auburn at 7:00 and reached FS71 at roughly 8:15. After having some brake trouble, caught a ride from a couple very friendly ladies up to the trailhead. Thanks to you two and thanks to the wonderful couple who gave us a ride down to my vehicle after the hike!
Beginning of hike has a couple unavoidable muddy areas but once you pass these the trail is in fantastic condition. Lake Eleanor campsites still closed due to a hazardous tree.
On a clear day, not many hikes beat this hike. It's one of the better ones out there when you have an unobstructed view. No signs of wildlife while we were out there but was told that there was a black bear earlier in the day around the Grand Park meadow.
Bugs were out in full force. Despite using some bug spray ended up with 40-50 bug bites. Most of which being mosquitoes but a couple horse fly bites here and there.
