Navaho Peak, Navaho Pass — Sunday, Jul. 1, 2018

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Peak Panorama

Saw clouds and rain on the west side of the cascades so decided to get over to Teanaway for some sunshine and views of the the Stuart range. First time doing this hike so wasn't sure what to expect. Don't let the stats throw you off, the almost 14 miles and 4000+ elevation for Navaho Peak don't feel nearly as long thanks to a steady gain and clear trail. We got on the trail just after 9am and got back by 330pm with about an hours worth of stops for lunch and pictures. Lots of people were camping at the meadow below the pass and heading down on Sunday as we were going up, but there was still room for us to park no problem.

Great trail from the start wandering through the Ponderosa Pines which thinned out in spots for views of the Navaho peak and others around. About 4 miles in you hit the meadows where most people camped and a just passed that is the pass which is windswept and martian looking. Great views of the Stuart range from the pass but even better from the peak. If you are tired at the pass there is also a short peak to the left (Navaho right) that looked like it would also give some good views of Stuart. The mile or so to the peak is where most of the elevation comes with some loose rock and sand, but not too difficult to turn you away. Worth the summit view for sure!
