We turned Pete Lake trail into a loop hike. Arrived at the Pete Lake Trail head at about 10 AM and there were already about 30 cars in the lot. There is a vault toilet that is well-maintained. The bugs at the trailhead were annoying and the rest of Pete Lake Trail for the bugs never improved. Pete lake trail itself is well-maintained it’s easy walking with no obstacles a couple of stream crossings that are easily negotiated. We arrived at peak Lake and lunched on a side trail because around the lake all the camping spots were taken.
We decided to take trail 1329 towards walk this path trail 1329 gain 16 live the king of Mount of elevation in a short distance 1200 feet of elevation gain in 1.7 miles the trails in great shape with no issues. Once you get to the near the trail junction with 1320 there’s some snow and we lost the trail we arrived at the creek but you need to cross which we did buy leapfrogging over some rocks. The section between trail 1320 and 1329.3 no longer exists we had to hike trail less for .7 miles using GPS and a map to try to find our way there’s snow making it even harder. We finally located the trail just after trail 1329.3 and arrived at Waptus Pass. Met another couple who also could follow and the trail and did some backtracking to find Waptus Pass from Pete Lake.
Continuing on trail 1309 you hike up 1200 feet in 1.3 miles to the junction with Polallie Ridge. This section of trail is in great condition with no issues.
Tired Creek Trail (1317) descending from the junction with Polallie Ridge are some of the most beautiful meadows and views even with the clouds we had the trail is in good condition aside from some blow downs to include a huge tree at a switchback making it so you have to scramble over it twice. The last .6 miles of Tired Creek trail is horribly overgrown.
Made it back to Pete Lake Trailhead at 6pm and the parking lot had 32 cars. We only saw 4 people after leaving Pete Lake from our lunch stop so I’m guessing everyone was at either Pete Lake or Cooper Lake.
