If you live in the south sound area, this is a terrific option for a close-by, early season warm up hike. Good for most reasonably mobile folks--including kids. Saw many families headed up with little ones. Many doggies on the trail, too.
Uphill but few (one or two?) switchbacks. A couple of rock-balancing creek crossings and limbo-ing under some trees over the trail.
When you get up to the lake, it's a bit difficult to pick out a trail to the lakeside, and I couldn't find a trail that went around the entire lake, but it's just really nice to sit atop a rock a contemplate the serene setting.
The trailhead area is well-maintained and easy to find.
