Blandford Canyon — Thursday, May. 10, 2018

Southwest Washington > Vancouver Area
Most of the trail is much narrower -- this is a section where WTA improved the tread and made it more sustainable. Photo by Anna Roth.

WTA has done a handful of work parties in this small canyon which connects South Cliff Park and DuBois Park in Vancouver. Unfortunately, in order to enjoy both parks, you'll have to cross Blandford Drive (there's no pedestrian tunnel) and there is evidence of people living in the South Cliff Park side.

However, the canyon is deep and green and pleasant, despite the road noise. It's remarkably lush, and the trails here are in great shape (even the sections WTA hasn't worked on). It's a cool area, like a secret little getaway to add onto a visit to the park. The entire area takes less than half an hour to explore.

There's no parking lot, only street parking, and both parks are in residential neighborhoods, so please do be considerate if you decide to check it out.

Blandford Road is quite close -- this is the view from the trail. But the passing traffic is less jarring than you might think. Photo by Anna Roth.
