Did a quick after work hike up to the first high point on the ridge at about 5100 ft/2 miles. Encountered the first snow around 4400 ft but didn't have to step on it until around 4600 ft, and it's quickly melting with all the sun and warm temps. Gaiters were definitely worth bringing since the snow was soft and not always supportive. Brought snowshoes and poles but never did use them. Several downed trees on the lower section of the trail but pretty easy to navigate over/around/under. No signs of animals but the wildflowers were starting to make an appearance. Check for ticks!
