Not quite what I expected...
I started at the 14th Ave trail head and hiked north. I was more than a little concerned when I noticed several parked, occupied vehicles in the parking lot. It appeared people were living in the vehicles. I took my chances and departed. I only walked 2.5 miles north and returned, as I was concerned as to whether or not my vehicle would be unmolested on my return. Along the way I observed several homeless camps, a hand to hand narcotic deal, open smoking of narcotics, discarded dog poop bags, apparent human feces, and oddly behaving apparently homeless persons. I only saw a few regular appearing people apparently out for a walk or ride.
I now understand why there were so few trail reports for this trail. Maybe if you started at the north end of the trail and hiked south... Or started further south and hiked south... But, I won't recommend hiking this trail from this trail head.

Next time start at N end, at Woodard Bay Rd, and walk S. Or start at the Fir Tree Rd parking lot and walk S.
Best.

this trail has an unfortunate, but perhaps expected history of assaults on single women travelling by themselves. A simple google search can confirm and I'm local resident of 18+ years. It is very beautiful but don't go alone, carry mace or some form of self defense. I'd also like to find the rules of the trail as I'm considering an electric assisted bike, but I'm not sure they are allowed. Of course homeless drug addicts are a'okay so I guess I shouldn't worry.
