Bandera Mountain — Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
So much snow...plus me falling

Attempted to hike Bandera Mountain....turned out to be more than we could handle snow-wise. Initial road to the trailhead is passable for all vehicles, just has lots of potholes with some pretty big ones. The first 2-ish miles up to the split are in great shape and easy to hike without any gear. The split to the lake and Bandera mountain is where things started to go south. There is a lot of snow on the trail with no signs of where the trail is at, so we just tried to stay as close as we could (had a gps), but still managed to veer off a good ways. I've learned that breaking fresh snow is extremely tiring especially going up that hill even with snowshoes. We turned around about 1/4 mile after that, so didn't summit but got some amazing views from where we were at! Overall I would recommend if you are hiking to the top to be prepared to work through waist deep snow for the last mile. Awesome hike though!!
