Sol Duc Falls — Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
Creek crossing (bridged) on the way in.

We did Sol Duc Falls as a quick morning warm up while car camping at the nearby campground, before heading out for a day hiking in the Elwha Valley. What a fantastic jaunt that packs so much beauty and interest into such a short, accessible trail! The falls were in great form, but so too were the trees, the other creeks to cross, the trail, and even the weather (we lucked out with an uncharacteristically warm weekend for the Olympics in late October). This would be a great hike for kids or friends inexperienced with hiking, but I'd also recommend it for anyone who's in the area and has the time.

Impressive canyon looking downstream from the Falls.
Amanita muscaria (fly amanita)...???
