Mount Peak (Pinnacle Peak) — Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

I have been hiking elsewhere all year and today came back "home". This report is directed to newer hikers.  This trail is a challenging short hike that is perfect for a first year hike to cut teeth with elevation.  No spectacular view.  Only territorial view of Enumclaw. It is beautiful from a forested view. It can be muddy when it is wet.  The main trail on the north side can be busy so solo hikers are rarely alone. The bench is halfway up in case u need reference. Expect about 45 minutes up, give or take based upon your experience.  As u get bored with a usual up and down the north side, you can start adding the back side (South side) to your hike.  There is a huge lot off Mud mountain Dam rd if you want to start on the south side.  There is a new trail with switchback on part of that trail.  Some of the south is more exposed but CAN have views of Rainer and the White River. Overall not so great hike if you have been hiking Mt Rainer National Park but a great hike for someone who wants to know if "hiking is for you.
