As devotees of the Creaky Knees Guide (because that's our pace - I know, we're not that old, but it's just how we do this for maximum nature soaking), we went just to Eunice Lake. And what a treat! Yes, it was a slog with lots of uphill. Yes, we looked with disbelief at people taking their already cranky toddlers ahead to Tolmie Peak past the Lake - I know the view is amazing. We passed quite a few folks on the trail in this precious time before it gets hard to get there. Everyone looked so happy to be there. Like we were. Perhaps partly due to the miraculously sunny September day.
Take the 200-foot detour to the Ipsut Pass overlook part-way through (picture included). And enjoy the lake-side if you can. So gorgeous! The last little bit to the lake I second-guessed my minimalist sneaks because my feet did get wet in the snow. But it was fine after all.
