Trip Report

Heybrook Ridge, Index Town Wall — Wednesday, Sep. 20, 2017

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

Great morning hike in sunshine once we reached the top. Good views of Mt. Index and Bridal Veil Falls. Were surprised by lovely 3 deer. Very pleasant hike through the woods. We still had energy left, so we decided to hike Index Town Wall. Started out in sunshine and after surviving this steep killer hike we were surprised with rain instead of the usual wonderful views from the top of the Upper Wall. We had rain jackets, so we stayed dry and of course we are not complaining about the rain, which we all have been praying for. I agree with a prior trip report that this is a very tough and steep hike, however it took us an hour to reach the top. This was our third time hiking this trail, so we knew what we were in for. It even took longer to come down, because the rain made for slick and slippery roots, rocks and mud. What a contrast to the first hike of the day to Heybrook Ridge. Still a wonderful outing in our amazing PNW.
