We went up to Mount Rainier on the day after the eclipse. On the way up the Fremont Lookout trail we chatted with a National Park Volunteer and she said the day before during the eclipse it was a bit of a zoo on the mountain with lots of people coming up to experience the phenomena from there. Today, a Tuesday, it was relatively quiet. There are still some wildflowers but the masses of lupine have now died down until next year. Frozen Lake is now ice free. Mount Rainier was obscured by a smokey haze from a fire near Natches that had closed Chinook Pass. We could easily see the plume rising above the fire to the east. By the time we were working our way down the trail Mount Rainier was completely covered over.
