Took our pup on an inaugural 3 night backpacking trip to Lake Mary and Ladies Pass.
The last 2/3 of the road to the Whitepine Creek trailhead was slow and bumpy but okay in a sedan. Stopped at the second of two campsites, 5.0 miles in from the trailhead. Flies were intense until it cooled down. Some bites, but mostly just lots of them. The trail to Frozen Pass was often brushy, inconvenient at times for those of us who use trekking poles, otherwise no problem.
Bugs were not an issue the 2 nights at Lake Mary. Our day hike to Ladies Pass was a delight. At 6900 feet, Mary Pass is a high perch overlooking the Alpine Lakes and Glacier Peak wilderness areas. We saw no one from Wednesday noon until Friday noon.
