Lake 22 — Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

What a great day for to hike Lake 22! Road to the trailhead has some great river views and is paved the whole way. The trail starts out low inclined and pretty easy, but then you hit a steady stretch of rocks to climb up. You get to the lake a short time after finished the rocky uphill. We took a few of the side detours along the way to get right up to the waterfalls and definitely recommend it, they are amazing. The lake is spectacular! The views of the surrounding cliffs are awesome, and the bridge and wood walkway make for a great experience walking around the lake. We ended up totaling just under 7 miles with walking around the lake and taking a few detours. Parking lot was relatively empty when we arrived (9am) but very full when we left (12 pm).
