Our first thought today was to hike to Dewey Lake. We started in that direction. The flowers were glorious! Not too many people when we started at 9:30, the parking lot was fairly empty and newly paved. We passed a few people coming up the trail from Dewey lake who said the bugs were brutal - both biting flies and mosquitoes. So.....we were almost to the turn off to go down to the lake and we decided to go back the trail and head up to Sheep Lake instead. We met lots and lots of people coming up the trail by now. The trail to Sheep Lake is pretty exposed and it was getting quite warm by now. The lake was beautiful and refreshing as usual. There were not as many flowers as the ones on Naches Trail. We cooled off at the lake and put our feet in the water. Several families were at the lake and kids were swimming in the water having a good time. Passed a few overnighters coming in to camp at the Lake. We returned to the car and the trail was really hot by now. My dog was heading for the shade every chance she got and her paws were getting hot on the trail. Stopped at Wapati Woolies for our usual Espresso Shake and look around the store. Love that place! The smoke was very evident but in spite of it we could see The Mountain. Yay! Iove summer and sunshine!
