As mentioned in previous trip reports Easy Pass is NOT easy! The trail starts in trees and after crossing a bridge just down from the trail head you start a relentless uphill climb all the way to the Pass. After about 2 miles you leave the constant tree cover behind and emerge an open area that is covered with blooming wildflowers and simply stunning views of the pass up ahead and the surrounding mountains. The trail moves in and out of trees (plenty of water sources) until the last 1/2 mile or so where you switchback up to the pass itself up a scree field. After leaving the tree cover the trail is mostly rock based so be very careful with your footing going up and down. It is truly a grind going up but the views into the North Cascades National Park on the top of the pass are WELL WORTH the effort! There is plenty of room on the pass to spread out, catch your breath, take a nap or simply just sit and enjoy the view! I highly recommend this trail but only if you are in excellent shape.
Trail notes: There are 2 trees down in the lower trail section - a 16" that fell across a puncheon (did not break the puncheon) and a 25" tree that you have to crawl under. The rest of the trail is in pretty good shape. The upper end could use some bench maintenance across the rock scree.
