The trail description written - "the northern portion of Kachess Ridge is very lightly traveled, and what lovelier way to do one of the best early summer wildflower hikes to Thorp Mountain than to come in through the “back door”?
Before leaving on your adventure, pause and enjoy the stunning views from the trailhead!" - describes our experience nearly exact.
Driving a Tacoma pick-up and Subaru Crosstrek we were able to navigate our way to the trailhead without bottoming out during the 3 significant dips in the road. We had the TH to ourselves, as well as the trail until we reached the lookout and met some friendly runners who had come in from Knox Creek.
The trail offers a little something for everyone - vistas in every direction, wildflowers and birds galore and enough elevation gain/loss to feel like you've more than earned your summit snack and dinner later on!
