We took the corral pass approach, which meant the trail was closer to 7miles round trip. Road up to trailhead was rough and long. We successfully played dodge the pothole in a Toyota Camry, although we were definitely jealous of the higher clearance vehicles. Happy to gain most of the elevation by car though! The trail was in great shape: dusty but snow and blowdown free!
Wildflowers were EVERYWHERE. It was magical being up in the alpine for so much of the hike. Bring a good amount of water though and a hat... the trees are mostly too short for cover. Bug spray and sunscreen are a must.
