An overnight to Pratt Lake was a great first backpacking trip of the season! Though the trailhead was busy and the parking lot overflowing, there was still enough peace and quiet to be found at the lake basin! If you are planning on staying overnight I would caution you to arrive early: nearly all of the established sites were full as we hiked out Sunday morning, but the dense trees around the lake establish the illusion of solitude.
The trail is in overall good condition: there are several small stream crossings that are made easily passable on rocks, and while there were still a few lingering snowfields they were easily navigable and seemed to be melting quickly. The runoff did make for several VERY muddy areas on the descent into the lake basin, but nothing unmanageable (as long as you're paying attention). Would highly reccomend to others looking to get a quick early season trip in!
