Trip Report

Lookout Mountain Lookout - Methow — Sunday, Jun. 4, 2017

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth
Lookout

The road was rough and narrow in places, but in good condition. Reached the end of the road (and the start of the trail, unsigned) at 5pm. Note that the upper part of this road doesn't appear on the current version of Google Maps or OpenStreetMaps.

The trail was clear of snow all the way to the top. The only obstacle was a large double-blowdown that was easy to climb over or under, but that would be difficult for stock to get around.

Swarmed by bugs at the trailhead, but a slight breeze kept them away further up.

The lookout was closed, but the views from the top were great.

Wildflowers: Balsamroot, Shooting Stars, Paintbrush etc.

Didn't encounter anyone on the trail.
