My first trip to Ross Lake. Hiked from the East Bank Trailhead to Roland Point for an early season overnight. Trail was in good shape, but there are a number of blowdowns along the way, including one right across the bridge over Ruby Creek. The warm temps made some of the stream crossings a bit intimidating, Roland Creek especially. All but two had a dry path across if you don't mind gambling with slick rocks and logs. I decided to deal with wet feet.
I was a little dissapointed there's not many lake views along this section of the trail. The first opportunity is at the end of the spur trail to Hidden Hand Camp. The next didn't come until after crossing Roland Creek. There's an easy to miss spur trail right across from Roland Creek Camp that goes down to the lake at Roland Point. The low lake level made for some interesting exploration. Saw deer, bears, frogs and a number of differnt kinds of birds. A few wildflowers were out, but only in isolated patches. Bugs were mild, but my hiking buddy was bitten by a tick on the car ride home.
