Trip Report

East Bank Ross Lake — Saturday, May. 20, 2017

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

I couldn't pass the first real opportunity of the year to get out for an overnight at Roland Creek camp. This trail was fairly quiet, with only a few other groups using it. There were some downed trees on the trail, but not too big of an issue. The first down tree was on the bridge over Ruby Creek. The creeks were pretty high and took some balancing to get across. We gave up on balancing once we got to Roland Creek and decided to roll up our pants, take our boots off and wade through. Water went up to just below the knee. It was nice and refreshing after the hike. Roland Creek camp seems to be home to some curious deer. We also saw a giant frog near the lake. Getting down to the lake was pretty straight forward from the main trail. The lake offered a panoramic view of all the snow-capped peaks.
