For anyone interested in doing the loop from the falls to the lake, you'll have to fight the crowds and do it on a weekend, because the DNR road between them is closed Monday - Friday for logging, as is the road below the trail crossing to the lake. Best to arrive early on Saturdays or Sundays, however. A forest of NO PARKING signs occupy all those narrow I-think-I-can-squeeze-in-here spots within 1/4 mile of the park entrance, and even on this sunny Wednesday the lot was almost full when we returned at 3:00. The hike to the lake is a great way to stretch your legs while avoiding the crowds that flock to the falls in nice weather.
