Lime Kiln Trail — Sunday, Apr. 9, 2017

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
South Fork of the Stillaguamish River
Decided to take advantage of some decent weather and took off early to the trailhead with a friend and his puppy. This is a very easy hike that can be done by any age. It is well marked and the trail is in great shape. I read about a lot of people saying it was very muddy, but it wasn't any worse than any other trail you will see in the Spring. Being the first couple people at the trailhead, didn't see a single person until we got to the end of the trail. It is a very peaceful hike that adds the sounds of the South Fork of the Stillaguamish as you get further in. When you get to the end, there is a great place to go relax by the river and have a snack and you can expect to have others join you. Probably ran into a dozen or so people on the way back along with a few dogs. We stopped at the Lime Kiln on the way back which is very impressive. Neat piece of history with a lot of different artifacts scattered all over the area. Please don't move anything so everyone else can enjoy them the way myself and others did. The hike back was easy and expect a lot of blackberries to snack on later this summer/fall. If you are looking for something easy or for kids or even just a starter hike, I would highly suggest this hike.
