Notch Pass — Friday, Nov. 25, 2016

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
My sister and I brought my then 7 month old child through the rough roads and up the pass trail. It was cold but not unbearable. I have hiked Notch Pass a few times in the winter months and summer months, it is always beautiful. On clear days in the middle of winter, there are breaks in the trees high enough to see the Cascades way in the distance. It's a regular hiking favorite for my family, though I hope the road conditions will be improved. On my hike with my sister, there was debris that needed to be moved and deep pockets of water that were almost got stuck in driving to the trailhead. There was also running water going over the road and down the slopes at some points which had us worried about going over the edge once or twice.
