Bordeaux Ghost Town — Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia
Great trees and vines to go along with the ruins.
The word for today's exploration is MUD. Be prepared with tall boots or galoshes unless you really enjoy mud in your shoes. The directions are good, Google Maps will get you there, too. We arrived at the parking around a little after 8am this morning, and a gentlemen was leaving to go retrieve better footwear. He inquired about our boots, and we said, "Yep, we can armed with sturdy shoes." It was quite an adventure tromping through the alternating soggy trail and muddy trail, but honestly it's not the "worst" conditions we've ever encountered on a trail; I'm looking at you, Goat Lake, with your fun "Is it the trail or a small creek?" game. :-) We meandered around for quite a while - it seems like there are extensive trails beyond the ghost town - and by the time we left around 10:30am, about 5 more cars showed up. It was nice to have the area all to ourselves for that long. Cool remnants. Love these kinds of places. FWIW: Really wish someone would organize a clean up party, though. There is SO MUCH trash in the area and along the roads to the parking area. Pretty disappointing.
This caught my eye while I was looking at old metal stuff. So cool!
Contrast of color.
Window and greenery.

Where did you apply for permission to hike here? I'm looking for a source.

We hiked just before the news of closing it to hikers came out. Sorry I can't offer more info.
