Trip Report

Sullivan Lakeshore — Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016

Eastern Washington > Selkirk Range
I only hiked 6 of the 8 miles. But it was beautiful. My goal was to find a hike that had the larches trees in full bloom, and this hike exceeded my expectations. It's a 2 and a half hour drive from Spokane, but if you get an early start (9 or 10am) you can spend the day up there and it's worth it. Bring your own food, the shore is pleasant, its quiet, and the roads are not an issue. There is no cell service once you get to about Usk/Ione, but for me that's kind of the draw. This hike is more like a long walk through the forest with great lake views. If you're tired from all your summer adventures (like me), this hike is for you. Best parts: Golden Larches and other bold fall colors, still waters, birds singing, peace and quiet.
