Spring Lake/Lake Desire Park - Echo Mountain — Monday, Oct. 3, 2016
Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Arrived at the Spring Lake trailhead around 10:30 AM. There are only a couple of 'non-pass' spots available right by the trailhead, and those were taken, so I parked closer to Spring Lake (which required my Discovery Pass). I chose to walk south and enjoy the quiet and longer trek to Lake Desire before heading up the Peak trail to the top. The incline is very steep, but short. I sat on the summit for a bit, then continued to follow the peak trail and made a loop that led back to the car. If I had my kids with me (preschooler age), I wouldn't have enjoyed the continuation of the peak trail because it was very steep down with a smaller path and many rocks (I can imagine it being very slippery in rainy weather). Plus there were more bugs on that part as well. Still, I enjoyed my time and will remember to go out and back with my family instead of looping.
