This is a great hike for kids. We went with our Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts ages 6-12years old. They all carried their own gear in and out easily. The creek was dry going in and lake was low however there was a lot of rain the first night and the lake filled in and we picked a bad spot to set up our tent. Learn from us and stay off the beach! Park your tent in the tree line. But luckily we had the best tent ever and stayed completely dry after waking up floating in the lake. (REI QUARTER DOME TENT). Coming back the creek filled in a bit. We picked a rainy day to hike in a the parking lot was empty but coming out was crazy full. This trail was very busy.
