Lime Kiln Trail — Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Nice hike!! I really enjoyed the scenery, it was so diverse! There were super sunny spots, and spots that were so dark from such thick foliage that it looked like a scene straight out of a movie. There were a lot of different terrains, as well. Some parts kinda like a gravel road, other parts were very rocky and you have to climb over and under some trees. The hike wasn't super hard, although I was a little under the weather when we went, so I overdid it a little on this trip. Most of your walk back is up hill, although nothing super drastic. The giant fly/bee things are ridiculous, and follow you, circling you for what seems like forever!! Definitely bring bug spray!! When we finally sprayed they left us alone. The kiln is so much bigger than I expected it to be, so cool to see the old artifacts from the town and railway. We didn't do the whole loop, we only went to the Kiln, since I wasn't feeling amazing. But even the 5 mile round trip hike to the kiln was perfect. When we went it was about 70-75 degrees, and we were HOT! Bring lots of water, for sure.
My friend in this picture is 6 feet tall!
