Little Ranger Peak via Ranger Creek — Sunday, Jun. 19, 2016

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
I wanted to post a quick note about this trail, as there have been no updates since May from hikers. The trail from 410 up to the outcrop is in terrific shape: no downed trees etc. The problem is the small walk from the trail to the rock. At least 4 downed trees, the first really being a serious obstacle. You can get around it if you just go back down the trail a little bit and climb up behind the first downed tree, and then walk over the ridge to the trail.
Did you find this trip report helpful?

Thanks for the update! It sounds like many people access the Ranger Peak trail from Camp Sheppard or the trail head immediately south of the camp. Do you know if it's possible to access the trail from further south on 410 where Ranger Creek joins the White River (about 2 mi. south of Camp Sheppard, across from the turnoff for NF 7160)? The Green Trails map doesn't show a trail head here, but the Ranger Creek trail junction is SO close to 410 here that it really seems like there should be a trail head.
