Hummocks Trail — Wednesday, Jun. 8, 2016

South Cascades > Mount St. Helens
At 12:38pm - with my children 6 and 8 High, thin clouds overhead, with plenty of blue sky and sunshine. Mid-hi 60s and light winds; perfect hiking weather. The wildflowers, damselflies, and butterflies are in abundance. Saw several signs of beavers near the cattail pond. Breathtaking views of the crater-side of Mountain. Not much snow on her. Met two other hiking parties; one a large group of middle schoolers and their chaperones; the other an older group of four hikers. Also passed one couple and one lone hiker. The hummocks remind me of something from a Tolkien novel. I found myself inadvertently looking for Bilbo's trolls. ~ Lady Puffin
