Greider Lakes Trail Elevation
A group of 14 of us used this as a practice hike and overnighter for a 50-miler this summer. The location is scenic and we'd probably hike the trail again when the weather is clear . . . mid- to late-summer. As it is today, several sections of the trail are extremely muddy with many opportunities to lose footing. A few specific notes: * As others have called out, the "trailhead" where you park is about 2 miles ahead of the original trailhead. These first 2 miles are pleasant enough . . . relatively flat but with several berms to navigate. * The trail is quite steep in several spots requiring stair steps. Again, these steps are often quite high, narrow, or in a state of disrepair so take it slow to avoid turning an ankle. * Overall, the trail doesn't appear to have been maintained in awhile. In many places the trail is overgrown with berry bushes, etc., and some of the bridges are quite rough. * The campsites looked nice enough, but it was a challenge to find tent pads that weren't pooling water. I'd recommend not overnighting here unless the weather has been clear for a few days and there's no rain in the forecast.
